Overview

TEXAVI’s Summer TECH Bootcamp for Kids is a live, instructor-led online training workshop. Targeted to ignite the minds of children, it delivers hands-on, practical IT and programming skills. Using hands-on tools such as the BBC MicroBit (a pocket-sized computer designed to make coding enjoyable for children), you’ll gain a solid understanding of computers and how they work. The bootcamp is structured and delivered via fun, interactive and easy to learn ways. Its Summer holidays, so why not use the time in gaining digital lifeskills and have a bit of fun alongside? 🙂

Who can attend?

Children and young persons with interest to learn IT skills

Suitable for students aged 8 to 11 years

No prior experience or knowledge of IT is required

Parts of a Computer

Internet and Web technologies

Set up the required softwares

Configure the software applications

Group Innovation Games

Code web pages with HTML, CSS

Code games using Scratch

What is a MicroBit?

Setting up MicroBits

Understand how MicroBits work

Code basic 1-player games

Code more advanced multiplayer games

What will you learn?

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Setup and install the required softwares on their computer

Identify the different components in software

Describe structure of a web application

Define what a software application is

Code web pages using HTML and CSS

Create programmes using Scratch Coding

Discuss the uses of Internet and WWW

Understand Cybersecurity and Internet safety

Design an online version of an engaging game

Describe different parts in a computer (how data is sent, FDE cycle)

Identify features of a MicroBit and why they are so useful to learn programming with

Illustrate how to set up a MicroBit on your computer

Show and tell how to code fun games using MicroBit

Zoom Video Conference app downloaded and installed
